On May 23 1859 Isham Holt deeded the church trustees one acre of land on the Forestville to Raleigh road "in consideration of the love of Christ and respect of the Baptist Church." The church was dedicated on the fourth Sunday in May of 1860 with the Rev. James McDaniel, president of the Baptist State Convention, directing the service.
