Houk's Chapel is the oldest house of worship in the city of Hickory. It was built in 1893 by a team of volunteers and reflects a distinct German architectural style. Their leader was Reverend William Kelly Houk (1855-1890) of Morgantown NC, a charismatic Methodist preacher who founded the congregation. This church is available at American Folk Art and Framing (www.amerifolk.com).
